LELA COVID-19 Notice

The Lela Team is here for you during this time of uncertainty. We are hopeful that together, with each one of us doing our part, we can make a difference and help diminish this pandemic. As all of us are trying to figure out the right, next steps, we are currently working remotely, in accordance with the statewide mandate, to help stop the spread of COVID-19. Although our Lela offices and College Planning Center are temporarily closed to the public, we are continuing to offer our programs and services to you.

LELA BORROWERS- COVID-19 Payment Relief: The Louisiana Education Loan Authority is offering payment relief to our Lela borrowers who are experiencing any financial hardship, related to unemployment, due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  During this time of national emergency, Lela is offering administrative forbearance for Lela loan borrowers who contact our servicer, Edfinancial, to request it. This forbearance will suspend any required payments on all of your eligible loans held by Lela.  During this time, interest accrues but will not be capitalized (added to the unpaid principal) at the end of the forbearance period.  While no payments are required during the forbearance period, you can always make extra payments to help lower the overall cost of your loan.  To request an administrative forbearance, please call EDFINANCIAL toll-free, 1-800-337-6884 or by email
